This is a marvelous excursion where you will discover the most spectacular valleys in the region: the Ourika Valley, Sidi Fares, and the Asni Valley.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel or Riad at 9:00 AM. Heading east from Marrakech toward the High Atlas, you will pass through several villages before driving along the Ourika Valley, which stretches for about fifty kilometers at the foot of the mountains. This is one of the most picturesque routes, following the rushing waters of the Ourika River—a river that never runs dry and offers excellent rafting opportunities in the summer. In this valley, we will take a break for mint tea by a mountain stream before venturing off the beaten path to the base of the Atlas Mountains.
We will travel at a relaxed pace, and if a Berber market is being held in a village that morning, we will stop to visit. As we pass through various villages, we can stop whenever you like to take photos or learn more about the area. We encourage our guests to bring along any spare clothes, shoes, or school supplies they no longer need to distribute to the locals themselves; you will meet many Berber children along the way.
We will continue our ascent, leaving the main road behind at an altitude of over 2,000 meters. We then follow an ancient, partially paved Berber path to reach the Sidi Fares Valley, an authentic region famous for its apple trees. You will enjoy a homemade organic lunch in a Berber house in a village overlooking the Atlas Mountains. The menu includes tomato salad, chicken tagine, couscous, and fruit (please let us know in advance if you are vegetarian).
After lunch, we reach the lush Asni Valley, lined with orchards. From here, you can admire Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167 meters, which is often capped with snow.
